Throwing away items | Dementia Support Forum

My husband spent days and days going through old photos and old documents that he had kept for years. They were sentimental rather than valuable, and from a period before I knew him. Then I found he was tearing them up and throwing them away. His speech is badly impaired, so he couldn’t tell me why, but I think it was to put his house in order before he goes! It was sad to see, and it deleted the memories he may have had of those times.
I have moved all valuable and current papers so that he doesn’t see them. The other day, he had his current TV licence, and read it over and over, then tore it up!! Fortunately it’s only valid another month, and then we’ll have to pay for one.
